Skills

The curated agent skills in skills/: the contract each one keeps, the build that checks it, where they are served and how to install them.

Updated

The skills record how General Translation work is done. Each is a folder under skills/<slug>/ in the SKILL.md format that Claude Code, Codex and other agents load. The set is curated by use: twenty-two skills, each one Kevin's sessions actually load.

The contract

  • Frontmatter. name (the folder's slug), description (what the skill covers, then "Use when", at most 1024 characters) and a metadata block of strings: title, areas (the first files the skill on /skills), updated, origin and owner.
  • Owner. The session lane that keeps the skill and reviews every change to it: P for the Prototemplate session, V for the Videos session and O for the onboarding and dashboard session.
  • Body. An h1 equal to the title and a short lead, the sections, a Review checklist where the skill governs work someone reviews, a Related skills line, and ## Sources last. The body stays under 24,000 bytes; detail moves to references/.
  • Supporting files are .md, .mjs, .json, .py, .sh, .txt or .js. A script carries a header with its purpose, usage and requirements, and an offline test that pnpm test:skill-scripts runs.

pnpm build:skills (scripts/build/skills.mjs) checks the contract and writes src/lib/skills.ts, the registry the pages read, and skills/README.md, the list by area. pnpm lint:skills fails while either is stale.

Where they are served

  • /skills lists the set by area; /skills/<slug> renders one skill with its files and its install line.
  • /skills/<slug>/SKILL.md and /skills/<slug>/references/<file> serve the raw files. Each skill page names its SKILL.md as its Markdown twin.
  • /skills/index.json lists the whole set with every file and install line.

Installing them

From a checkout, pnpm skills:install --project <dir> links every skill into <dir>/.claude/skills and <dir>/.agents/skills. Name slugs to install fewer, add --copy to vendor the folders, --user to install into the agent home, and --dry-run to see each step first. This repository's own .claude/skills and .agents/skills hold relative links made the same way.

Kept by use

pnpm skills:usage counts how often each skill is loaded over the last thirty days. Thirty days after distribution, a skill with no loads is cut unless Kevin keeps it by name. The prototemplate skill holds the full contract and the steps for adding one.
